Cough with chicken pox

DD has had chicken pox the past week, the spots have started to scab and I was ready to send her back to school but now she’s started with a cough. It’s a very dry cough, almost sounds like she’s forcing it, she’s saying something is tickling her throat and her tummy feels sick. Is this chicken pox related or has she somehow caught something else?. Has anyone experienced this?.

Dry cough is not uncommon with chicken pox, and she might even have some sores in her mouth and throat.

There could well be spots in her throat, and as a virus it can have all the symptoms associated with other viruses (like swollen glands, upset stomach etc) so she needs to stay off school a little longer.
I remember having a terrible swollen sore throat with chicken pox.
She needs to be away from others until all the spots have scabbed over, as she is still infectious until this happens.
