DD is 6 but reading age of 9. She has a good understanding of what she reads. She’s into chapter books but the sort of books that match her reading ability are often not appropriate content for a 6 year old. Can anyone recommend books for her?

What sort of books has she enjoyed before?

Little House books
Famous Five
Family from One End Street
Beaver Towers
Lucy Jane at the Ballet
The Children who lived in a Barn

All ones dd2 enjoyed at that age. All fairly gentle reading.

Famous five
Willow farm
What about the old ones like Narnia, Ballet Shoes, Worst witch etc (it's years since I read them, it I think they'd be ok for a 6 year old?)

Thank you. She loves the faraway tree stories and recently read and loved how to train your dragon books.
Thank you for your suggestions. I will make a list.
At the moment I think she is finding her genre. She reads anything and everything at the moment! X

The wild robot is a lovely book.

For series beast quest was popular with my son when he was about 7/8. They can be a bit scary he says, but start with the first series (he was/is a bit of a wimp but a good reader)

My DD is the same age (although not far off 7) and similar reading level. She has recently finished Stig Of The Dump, The Queen's Nose, HP and the Philosopher's Stone, The Iron Man, and Bill's New Frock, which have all proven a hit. Stacked up ready to read, we have various Roald Dahl books, The Animals Of Fathing Wood, The Secret Garden, Horrible Science/Histories/Maths, The Sheep Pig, and The Demon Headmaster.

She's also currently re-reading a boxset of Greek myths for younger readers, which she loves (and her 4yo sister loved listening to also).

If she likes animals, there's the Hattie B series and Zoe's rescue zoo.
