I'm sure I know the answer to this but if you got a call from a guest saying the kitchen was on fire and the fire brigade were on their way, would you
a) drop everything and go straight over, or send someone if you didn't live close?
b) stay in the pub and promise to pop over the following day sometime? Let your guests spend two hours in the cold and dark dealing with the firemen? (actually, that bit was ok!)
You can guess which best reflects my experience...
Isn't there some duty of care towards your guests? Wouldn't you be concerned about your property?
I am so enraged by their attitude and now they seem to be blaming me that they later had problems getting the insurance sorted out.
I manage a property locally and I would go round at the smallest request. The fire brigade told us that due to the rural location and lack of access to water, they couldn't have done anything if we hadn't put out the fire ourselves, they would have have just had to watch burn down in front of them.
I still can't believe how he left us to it, and I just want some reassurance that i'm not being unreasonable!!
