Consistently high white blood cell count?

Could someone please tell me what this could be an indication of, if not infection? Been having my bloods repeated for weeks now because my white blood cell count is “abnormal” (higher than normal, not been told any numbers or anything just that it’s higher) but no one will tell me what this could mean, why they’re monitoring it or why I’m being sent for yet more blooming blood tests! All I’m being told is it’s abnormal. My anxiety is through the roof, I don’t suspect cancer or anything terrifying though. Was originally having tests for a suspected under active thyroid Confused

Forgot to mention, infection has been ruled out already

Mine is due to hayfever affecting my lungs. Has been that way for about 7 or 8 years now.

@ConfusedAdultFemale did you ever find out what this was?
