No idea what the rules are but I may need to go into the office for work as my internet isn't working. However both dc have been asked to self isolate from school. Someone in their class has tested positive. Am I ok to send them to grandparents whilst I go to work?

Surely if they have been in contact with covid they could pass it on to gp.

Are you sure its covid safe for you to go into work

watchingn · 24/05/2021 14:36

That's what I thought but work know that the kids are at home and they have said they still want me to come in from tomorrow. I can't take unpaid leave or have enough annual leave to take instead as I need them for school holidays.

Well you can't go into the office, not if your children are too young to be left at home alone.

You have the right to take leave to look after dependants in an emergency:
www.gov.uk/time-off-for-dependants
Or unpaid parental leave:
www.gov.uk/parental-leave

Alternatively, do you have a partner and could they WFH or take time off?

TroysMammy · 24/05/2021 14:49

No the clue is in the word isolating.

If it's due to being contacts of Covid and not because they have symptoms then yes the rest of the household can carry on as normal in regards to work etc. It's only the children themselves that need to isolate.
ArosGartref · 24/05/2021 14:52

No, but in practice lots of people would do it.

whatswithtodaytoday · 24/05/2021 14:53

Would you want them to go to their grandparents', if they're incubating Covid?

Even if they're vaccinated, they're still going to get sick.

Does anyone actually believe that people haven’t been getting grandparents to take care of small children who are isolating? Absolutely hilarious.
How do you think this country’s services have still been running if every parent with kids under 12 have been simply staying at home for every school isolation.
Are you aware of how much some kids have been sent home to isolate over the last year? Some kids have been off for 2 week, back for 2 week and off for 2 weeks etc etc.
Thankfully, I work from home and my kids are older to watch tv when off but for the people who’s employer says they must come in, it’s a joke
