I think sod the Eurovision. We should all get Embers by James Newman to number 1 in UK Charts Grin

Let's not.

Justforphoto · 24/05/2021 14:02

no thanks

HouseofWindsor · 24/05/2021 14:03

Might be a reason it was Nil points.

DeadButDelicious · 24/05/2021 14:04

Nope.

ItsNotNormalLove · 24/05/2021 14:05

It was an OK tune but not one I would pay for.

HollysBush · 24/05/2021 14:07

Aww, well my friends and I really love it too! Really surprised how unpopular it is!

LadyDanburysHat · 24/05/2021 14:08

It's a dreadful song. I listen to Radio 2 so have been listening to it for ages and really it does not improve the more you listen.

prettybird · 24/05/2021 14:14

My 20 year old ds says that Voilà is currently his favourite song - and is now exploring Edith Piaf's songs after I said the French entry was "very Edith Piaf. Typically French".

He has an eclectic taste - but didn't rate Embers/the UK entry.

As someone said earlier on this thread, don't do a "Rag'n'Bone Man" style song without having the strength of voice of Rag'n'Bone Man Hmm

prettybird · 24/05/2021 14:15

...not on this thread, on one of the other Eurovision threads Blush

domesticslattern · 24/05/2021 14:55

Why? It was shit.

Crinkle77 · 24/05/2021 15:36

I feel sorry for him. He seems to be getting a lot of flack. It wasn't the best song in the world but it certainly wasn't the worst. He's a very successful song writer and has written for loads of other artists so perhaps it's best that he just stays behind the scenes.

52% of the population don't care if we are hated in Europe.

NatMoz · 24/05/2021 16:34

It was already in the charts and hit 42. UK didn't like the song.

CheneHetre · 24/05/2021 16:34

Let’s not!

ShirleyPhallus · 24/05/2021 16:37

It sounds like a lot of stuff that was released about 5 years ago. Except they’ve massively overdone the poppy overtones

Lonelycrab · 24/05/2021 16:39

It’s more of a number two than a number oneWink

Wow...that's quite high!
GillBiggeloesHair · 24/05/2021 16:42

No thanks, it's turgid.

No, it's dreary crap.

This. It was a perfectly fine song, but not a top ten for most people, that's how it ended up with nil points. It's just maths.

James was a good sport though and I hope he made great contacts for his future work.

RaisinsRuinEverything · 24/05/2021 19:03

I liked the beginning but the chorus fell flat. It’s all on one note and a bit of a disappointment.
