Is anyone else out of a job?

It'll be my last day tomorrow at my current job. Unfortunately, things haven't turned out for me due to health issues and I'm leaving to concentrate on myself for a bit. It was a really really tough decision to make as I we could do with the money but hopefully it will be for the best. I'm really looking forward to actually spending more time with the kids and doing stuff which I've not had time / energy to do but I'm still really anxious about it all. Worried I won't find another job and feel a bit rubbish about it all to be honest.

Ah I'm sorry to hear this but I hope your health issues resolve themselves soon. You will get another job - many people are out of work for years or even decades and manage to find work again. Most important thing is to take care of yourself now, you will find work that works for you but have to fit your own lifejacket before helping others Flowers

I just feel it's not the best time to be out of a job with the current climate. I am terrible at interviews and the competition for even low paid jobs (which I do) is crazy

Well it's not really worth spending your time thinking about it if your last day is tomorrow, unless they are begging you to stay on! Generally they say it's easier to find a job when you have a job, so not to leave a job until you have another one, BUT there are a million exceptions to that - the main one being if you're too ill to work and sick leave isn't available!! Which sounds like your situation.

I don't actually think it's not a great time to be out of a job - I don't know what it is you do, but every single shop, cafe, bar and hotel has signs up asking for help round here, the delivery companies are hiring, I was talking to an interior decorator who told me the upholsterer she uses can't find any apprentices to train up (any age, on full pay) and I think there is just a really big shuffle round of jobs where some industries are shrinking and others are madly hiring. DH's work is having a terrible time finding staff, even though it's term time only and paying national living wage rates.

It's a choppy situation out there for sure but there are a lot of opportunities for someone who wants to work I think, just maybe not in the same things or regions as pre-covid...
