Any other nurses worrying about pay?

I’m in England and the 1% pay rise feels like a massive slap in the face. I’ve had two ITU redeployments and I’m bloody fed up. All of my outgoings are rising, our food shop is up, energy tariff has been raised, nursery costs gone up at the start of the year and my wage isn’t increasing. I have one DC and am keen for another but no bloody idea how I’d afford it. I love my work, I do, but how can anyone be expected to choose nursing as a career if it’s so poorly compensated. I’m considering retraining but can’t afford it and haven’t the slightest what else I might do. Anyone else feeling similarly?

I'm angry about the pay cut. Nurses at my grade are 20% worse off compared to the rate of inflation than they were a decade ago. We've just seen year after year of cuts.

I'm worried about the impact of the cuts of staffing. We are so short-staffed already and it is impossible to recruit experienced nurses to fill the vacant roles. Every year more of my colleagues leave the NHS.
