iPhone question. In what ways can somebody steal information from your phone?

I’m not entirely sure this has happened, I might be overthinking, so bear with me.

You know when you transfer data from, say, an old iPhone to a new iPhone, and you put both phones together to do this?

Could somebody use their iPhone in the same way to take information from yours? Would my iPhone need to be passcode unlocked for this to happen?

So, if I left my phone out with the home display showing, passcode unlocked, could somebody just take their iPhone, put it together with mine, and transfer info over to their phone?
Hope I’m making sense……

If not, phew, what other ways could they take info without actually stealing my phone?

I shouldn’t be worrying, but I am. My colleague seems to be able to read my mind as things she has said lately are things that are on my phone and I haven’t mentioned them to her or anybody else.

Unless she's a bonefide Apple genius I very much doubt she's hacked your phone.
IPhone is secure.

the phone itself is pretty secure.
some apps aren't though. have a look at the settings of your communication apps.

What things does she know? Could there be another way she’s found out?

The iPhone will only transfer information to another phone once you have logged in to that phone with your Apple ID and password.

There is absolutely no way that data can be transferred any other way. Certainly not by just placing their iPhone beside yours.

redcandlelight · 22/05/2021 08:35

look under apple id for related devices and remove any that are old or not yours.

redcandlelight · 22/05/2021 08:36

oh and switch off bluetooth unless you need it.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 22/05/2021 09:03

It depends what kind of things. It's more likely she got the info from your social media or a mutual friend or colleague than her actually hacking into your phone and stealing your data.

Worst case scenario, if you leave your phone unattended and unlocked, she might've had a look through your phone.

Someone's looked thought my phone before. Always lock it.

idontlikealdi · 22/05/2021 09:33

Highly unlikely.

Do you not set your phone to auto lock anyway though?
