Getting a gastric sleeve, what should my last scran meals be?

ScabberPig · 22/05/2021 07:47

Getting it in a month's time but from Monday I am hitting the gym and will soon be on a liquid diet for prep.

So I'm giving my self this weekend to have a feast.

What would you have?

Probably because it isn’t sustainable over years, hypie

Hypie · 22/05/2021 11:22

@Babymeanswashing, isn’t sustainable? How do you think thin people stay thin? It isn’t a negative choice it’s a normal way of living, a change in mindset. It isn’t starving yourself (I’m eating a gorgeous BLT right now, sourdough, mayonnaise, thick bacon, real butter). I’m never hungry.

The thought process that it isn’t sustainable suggests you think OP would be missing out on something?

Babymeanswashing · 22/05/2021 11:23

You don’t need to patronise me hypie I’m well aware.

But the fact is, if you have 10/15/20 stone to lose (I don’t mean you OP) then a pound a week at SW for years isn’t sustainable.

I’ve been on a VLCD to lose baby weight and you do get fed up of it!

Good luck @ScabberPig ! I had a Chinese takeaway before my LED pre-sleeve. It was like saying goodbye to a previous way of eating. Not in a mournful way, I was very positive about it.

Now I’m 7 months post sleeve I can eat any foods but find it really easy to eat small amounts, don’t get cravings, focus on healthy foods. Just like all the posters here who are fortunate enough to be able to do that naturally and show a complete lack of empathy or understanding about how other people’s bodies work Hmm

Oblomov21 · 22/05/2021 11:25

Why had this turned nasty!
Just at your favourite things op, like a last supper.
I'd go for chicken Kiev, mash, cheeses, cheesecake, scallops in garlic. Not all at the same time!

I’d go for southern fried chicken, jacket potato (with cheese) and peas. Glass of coke and a muffin after. Maybe a brandy (not a big drinker).

But now PP mentioned a full roast, that’s tempting too.

BiBabbles · 22/05/2021 11:46

I agree that looking at foods you won't be able to have would be a good starting place.

I have digestive issues which means I get uncomfortably full fast, and I generally have really low appetite in part because of that, so my fantasy meal where that isn't a restriction on me would involve some good spiced naan (love it, but it fills me very quickly), some of the thick homemade noodles a friend makes -- basically tasty carb-heavy things that take a lot stomach space so I tend to only be able to eat a little of or eat really slowly over an evening (I can make a plate of spaghetti last hours if I try to eat it all, it'd be nice to eat it all fresh).

mumulala · 22/05/2021 11:47

What I think is unhealthy is being judgey about another person's consumption. At best it is unsolicited advice, at worst you are perpetuating all the unhealthy hang ups we seem to foster about food these days.

angelaEhen · 22/05/2021 11:49

A large vegetarian supreme pizza from domino's, followed by Ben and Jerry's ice-cream.

Good luck op

Aspiringmatriarch · 22/05/2021 11:57

@Bluntness100

I think the concern is people are encouraging you to binge and massively over eat unhealthy foods, instead of recognising you need this operation for a reason and must have an unhealthy relationship with food in the first place. You’ve done so so well on your diet, have started making healthy choices, exercising and are on a great path. Yes a last meal is fine, but people shouldn’t be encouraging you to binge as much as you can get down you.
Well yes but I don't think they're encouraging her to binge 'as much as she can'. OP is I'm sure aware of her relationship with food and just wants to enjoy a weekend of indulgence in a way that won't be physically possible in the future.

Really? Habe you read some of the responses?

GulliBelle · 22/05/2021 12:07

The world's largest pizza.

Miasicarisatia · 22/05/2021 12:11

@funkylittleboatrace

A family member has a gastric sleeve, it’s not changed her attitude towards food. She still eats badly, but now throws up after a few mouthfuls then carries on eating!
Is she aware that vomiting regularly can be harmful?
Miasicarisatia · 22/05/2021 12:14

I think I would also have a last meal in these circumstances, I think I would make it a kind of ritual to mark the end of one phase and the beginning of another.
And wish you good health and good happiness OP🙏💙

This ^

I wish you all the best with your upcoming surgery.

I think the idea of binging in the ways suggested is an unhealthy approach to food which I don't think is recommended for anyone.

NakedBanana · 22/05/2021 12:16

Doughnuts and Coke.

You'll never be able to enjoy them again.

EarringsandLipstick · 22/05/2021 12:18

Is she aware that vomiting regularly can be harmful?

She probably has no choice. The surgery only allows for very small amounts of food, of certain types.

Sadly she seems not to have moderated her diet, hence vomiting.

It's a very sad situation ultimately, as it possibly will reduce the effect of the surgery, maybe even leading to ill-health.

I have, yes. Lots of suggestions for very indulgent and unhealthy foods, as requested by OP. No suggestions that OP literally cram herself with as much food as physically possible.Smile
Magenta82 · 22/05/2021 12:18

I had a gastric bypass, I'd go for booze and carbs. I still can't eat much bread and high carb food, especially sugar gives me dumping syndrome.

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 22/05/2021 12:22

Hi, OP. My blow-out meal would be steak, a jacket potato with lots of butter and cheese, artichokes (odd choice, I know) and apple pie. Washed down with lots and lots of red wine.

I hope the operation goes well and I wish you all the best!

Can you maybe explain your problem? Clearly suggesting many courses of heavy food is for many binging and over eating. Why habe you your arse in your hands over it?

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 22/05/2021 13:25

Donuts and coke seem a pretty good idea, too, except my soft drink of choice would be Diet Pepsi.

ScabberPig · 22/05/2021 13:41

I don't think having a take out for dinner is binging.
No one is talking about binging and purging. Just eating a normal takeaway meal.

It's not a huge issue.

Excuse me? Confused I don't 'have my arse in my hands'. Please bore off if you're going to be rude.
