Moderna and Covid arm

Anyone else had Moderna and got "Covid arm" - heat/itching/swelling around the injection site, a week or so after? Mine kicked in on Wednesday, a week after my first injection, and it's bloody massive now - the affected bit is like right round my whole upper arm, and about 15cm long. I'm wondering whether to tough it out or go to the doctor. Last year I had an insect bite that swelled this much and I ended up getting antibiotics and heparin. I mean it's obviously not an infection, but is there a point where you're supposed to tell someone? I don't know.

I'd send an image over to your GP.

Doesn't sound right.

I had this but with the AZ vaccine. Big, hot and red. It went away after about a week.

I would check with doctor - with the AZ I had a red rash down both arms and itchy for 2 weeks but no swelling and no localised heat (had general sweats at night). I would check its OK with doctor.

Have you tried antihistamines? Would also check with Dr.

I forgot to update... it's fine now! Friday night it was as hot as the surface of the sun and almost the whole way round my arm. Woke up Saturday morning and it had subsided. It's back to normal now.

I might ask them to do the next one in the other arm though

Hello OP, found your thread by searching on moderna as I have the same thing. I had my first moderna jab approx ten days ago and all was fine but for the last couple of days I have a large red patch on my arm. It's not sore or itchy, it just looks like I've been slapped hard! How is your arm doing now?

toomuchtooold · 30/05/2021 08:37

It's fine now! It took about 3 days - got worse for two days, I went to bed last Saturday night and it was actually painful, it was so swollen - then woke up and it had pretty much completely subsided.

Hope yours is feeling better soon!

Thanks, OP. That's great to hear. Glad you are alright xx

I had it with pfizer, eight days after. I rang the doctors and I'm now on antibiotics just in case it is colitis. My arm went down within 24 hours, but I've had an allergic reaction to the first antibiotics and now I'm just wiped out. Covid Arm isn't a recognised thing in the UK. Two doctors I spoke to were adamant that what had happened to my arm was unrelated to the vaccine.
