Had a smear today and the nurse asked me when the date of my last period was. Then followed it up by saying: “If you still have periods?”

I’m 41. Hardly menopausal. I still think of myself as a hot, spring chicken and that question really made me feel old and past it : (

I think the nurse may have been asking in case you're on hormonal contraception which stops/delays periods, and some women do go through early menopause by 41. Sounds like she was just covering the bases - I wouldn't worry about it.

Fear not - you’re still most definitely a hot, spring chicken! She was probably referring to contraception Smile

My periods stopped when I was 41. I guess she has to ask!

I’m the same age. At my recent smear test the nurse told me that, after 50, you only have smear tests every 5 years. Then she looked on her screen at my age and said “but obviously for now it’s every 3 years” Grin

I last had a period at the age of 31 thanks to the Mirena and ideally, I'll never ever have one again Grin
