What does 'last seen at' on telegram really mean?

It shows it when I got into my chat thread with a person. Does it mean the last time they looked at that my chat thread? Or just the last time they were on telegram, regardless of whether they looked on my chat thread?

I don’t know what telegram is Blush, I assume it’s like WhatsApp though?

What is telegram? I know what a telegram is, but I don't think you mean this.

On whatsapp it means the last time they were on whatsapp, not when they last looked at your thread. You can turn off Last Seen in Settings. I do that as I have work colleagues on Whats App and do they really need to know I got up at 3.30am for a wee and checked Whats App while I went back to sleep Grin.

Telegram is an encrypted messenger and social media software - but user data is held on their servers

It avoids censorship and has been popular as social media among those who have been kicked out of Facebook etc - particularly Tommy Robinson, Britain First, QAnon groups etc

It is authored by Russians which can be a good or bad thing - good due to quite a few of their open source programmers leading in security software and potentially bad with any connections to the government. It had been banned in Russia as they refused to share encryption with the FSB, but has since been permitted. (Not necessarily a problem as full PGP encryption used to be forbidden for export from the US under arms control for similar reasons on encryption keys until the US government were more confident that they could break encryption)

On whatsapp it means the last time they were on whatsapp, not when they last looked at your thread

Just bumping - is this the same on telegram? Does anyone know?
