To be off sick tomorrow ?

Hi

I am 20 weeks pregnant. Have had sickness since week 6. I am on anti sickness tablets 3 x per day. I have recently had this changed to a 3rd line medication. I am very constipated and have just been told I have a UTI and have been prescribed antibiotics I was off sick Tuesday and due to work tomorrow but not sure if I should stay off work and rest ?
I work from home but my job is a call centre so I have constant calls coming through and also make outbound calls ( healthcare role so very responsible) I can't just take a break when I fancy.

If I don't go to work tomorrow my little girl with still be in nursery so it would be a day where i can properly rest I just feel so guilty. I do think I will struggle to sit at the screen all day feeling so sick and I am having terrible stomach cramps so it is better to lie down and rest.

If you're feeling too poorly to work then of course you should take it off

Regularsizedrudy · 20/05/2021 10:52

Why are you questioning this? You are sick, so take a day off sick.

mollyGee · 20/05/2021 10:53

@Regularsizedrudy I feel guilty.. where I work is short staffed and there a few people off sick at the moment . I know they will struggle .

Also though I should realise that's not my problem and put myself and baby first.

Hi @mollyGee
I'm really sorry you're feeling so rough. You said in your OP that you have to be very responsible in your healthcare role. I mean this in the kindest way possible - if you're not feeling well you may be more likely to make mistakes and put others at risk. I've been feeling really queasy with my pregnancy, and even just with that I am struggling to concentrate.

Please take the day off without guilt. You’ll recover faster if you actually manage to have a day of rest.

mollyGee · 20/05/2021 16:00

@TTCat39 yes I agree that's why I thought I'd better include it in my post . Sometimes family members presume as I work from home I am not as busy as I would be in my usual face to face nursing role but the demands / responsibilities are the same . It's very hard to concentrate speaking to patients when I feel like this so I have phoned in sick now :)

@TTCat39 sorry to hear you have been feeling unwell too.

Hi @mollyGee Just wondered how you're getting on and if you're feeling any better. Hope a rest day helped.
