I'm looking to get my DS off YouTube as even though I've limited him to kids youtube now he is constantly watching video game footage. He has an iPad ( old one) and DP has prime so I think we can subscribe to Amazon kids + for 1.99 per month. Would it give him good content? He's not a fan of kids iplayer stuff as he's unfortunately into more grown up stuff, which I'd prefer he wasn't. I really need to sort out his viewing, he's not a tv fan.

I can see why they say computer games are addictive, and DS isn't playing them just watching.

We have for our 8 and 4 year olds. I think it's really good. No in-app purchases and you can put their age in so only age appropriate things come up.

@DontWannaBeObamasElf I've got and it's been in action one day, DS says it's boring. What age range do you have them both set on ?

My DS is nearly 5 and I've set to 5-8 non reader view ( he is starting to read as in reception) but doesn't seem to show much content. Maybe I need to look at it on his iPad as I've changed on my phone but not sure it will mirror it ?

He's begrudgingly watching Paw patrol, but he says he's too old for it now😢

I've put Netflix and Disney+ onto them from my own Kindle. Go to 'Add content' and see what it allows you to put on. There are loads of games available, have a look at the screen time settings and make sure if doesn't need X amount of minutes for reading etc before the games are visible.

@DontWannaBeObamasElf ok no limits on and can add various apps, but would I need a Disney + subscription for that to show any content. Really don't know what I'm doing here 😬

DontWannaBeObamasElf · 26/05/2021 17:55

Yeah you would, I just used those as examples of apps I added.

I suppose my main issue is it's showing Peppa pig and I do think that is too young for a 5 year old, but maybe it isn't.
