Has anyone had a c section under GA? Was it ok ?

The above is a big factor in whether we have any more dc. Is CS under GA much different to with a spinal ?
Can anyone who has had one of each type explain how is was better/worse/the same?
I do want another dc but this is putting me off 😞

I've had both. GA first time because of urgent need - no epidural in and no time to do a spinal - spinal second time with an elective CS. GA was fine; baby was at risk so anything that brought it out safe was fine by me, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the elective with me awake was much better! With the GA I was only under for about 30 mins but was very groggy waking up and didn't know what was going on. It was very weird being handed a baby who'd arrived while I was asleep.

Long term however, there was no difference at all in bonding, ability to feed or any of the other things one might worry about. Recovery from the CS was the same both times (pretty quick!) I don't think I'd base a decision on whether to have more children or not on the very short moment in time that they arrive in the world - there's a whole lifetime after that.

I had a GA here too, no time so had to knock me out!
Same as above it was weird waking up to my son, but I loved him instantly and had no trouble bonding.
Felt a bit tired, but you do after labour here! To be honest I think I’d have felt more anxious if I’d been awake for the whole thing.

I’ve had both, my CS under GA was an emergency and my one under a spinal was a planned one. The main thing I would say is that I felt very drowsy for a good 12 hours after my GA one and the pain hit quite hard when I woke up compared to the slow release of it after the spinal but they did very quickly get on top of that. I was slower to be up and about too but probably only by a few hours.
My c section under spinal was much better because it was planned and all calm so I would imagine one under GA would feel the same.
It has never bothered me/I’ve never let it bother me that I wasn’t conscious for DDs birth; it didn’t effect our bonding and as far as I’m concerned her safety (and mine) was the priority.

Just to add that after my first DD being born when I was under GA; if they’d then told me I’d have to do the same with subsequent children I would have been ok with that based on my first experience.

Thankyou it is reassuring to hear these birth stories
Were your babies very drowsy after birth I’m worried as had read it can cause issues sometimes. I had said we would ttc quite soon as I’m getting on a bit 🤣 but I’m nervous now because of this but if it’s not the big deal I’ve made it in my mind then that’s a good thing
