Phone and advertisements

Yesterday I was helping my cousin clear her Mum's house as her mother had died.
Her Mum was a great sewer and I found her sewing box and instructions for her sewing machine ( my cousin had already taken the machine to her own home ).
I asked her did she want the box of thread and buttons.
We had our phones with us.
Today Amazon has sent me ads for sewing thread and a sewing box !!!
I have never searched for thread or buttons or anything to do with sewing on Amazon.

I don't think it's a coincidence.
It's happened before with other stuff.

Has something like this happened to you ?

Anyone else had this.
Having a conversation about a topic and a short time later receiving ads on said topic.
Denials from big companies that they're listening in.
I believe they are.
"Big Brother" n all that.

This is so weird, I was just thinking/worrying about this!
Just this morning, I opened and used one of those conical beauty blender sponges to apply make up. I never searched for it on line, nor have i talked about them. it was a total impulse buy with my food shopping 2 weeks ago. I came across it this morning, opened it and used it.
I have had advert after advert for them ever since

Yes, I was once talking about Judes ice cream. Had never seen it before. It was free at a conference so we were all eating it and talking.

The thing that worries me most about my post is that I certainly haven't ever talked about it. Or searched for it. All I did was open it!

DH and I were looking at a house for sale. We were standing outside, on the street, a reasonably busy road, not a quiet cul de sac, 2 older dc with us, discussing how it looked from outside. I commented on the roof and how it needed to be redone.

The next morning I get an email ad in Gmail for a type of roof !
I had never got an email ad for a new roof before.
I had not googled a new roof or roofing products.

Your phone is listening. It's been discussed before. Not sure if anyone found a way to turn it off.

Has something like this happened to you ?

Very common, I see it daily on my Facebook ads. It's either something I have spoken about or searched for.
