I’ve been getting more and more anxious over the past few years with the main issue with it giving me an upset stomach and loose bowels / urgency, usually when I go somewhere I know there is no access to a loo.
I have to cut short walks, shopping trips, eating out is dicey as usually as soon as I’ve eaten I’m racing to the loo. It’s not due to any particular food but more situational, if I’ve been caught out in a particular place previously you can guarantee the anxiety will start as soon as I step in the place and I’ll be at risk of having a bowel accident or be very close to.
I’m also having TMJ pain from jaw clenching and also feel quite wired at times.
Today I gave in and spoke to my GP. I’ve been prescribed 50mg Sertraline to be taken every morning. Everything I’ve read about the drug says it’s used to treat IBS C!! And it causes diarrhoea! Why would the GP give me this if this is the case??
Has anyone had any experience of this drug and did it give you the runs? If so I’d rather not take it.

Yes I take it. 50mg helps me avoid big lows.

I've had a variety of stomach problems, and never have an issue with it . I'd give it a go.

Suggest taking a preventative immodium before eating out - it's very reassuring so helps the worry/upset stomach cycle.

I've taken it for years. No stomach issues from it. It's a very common drug, I can't imagine it gives everyone the runs who takes it.

I took it years ago & it gave me the runs a bit, but then my general lifestyle was terribly unhealthy.
I take it now & it’s been fine, I started out drinking a full glass of water with it which helps to lessen the initial side effects. Or did for me anyway.

Hi guys, I've been taking sertraline for 8 weeks now. I have bad postnatal depression. I'm currently taking 100mg but I'm still feeling really flat and low Most days. Has anyone taken 150mg? I feel scared that it's really high and I'm the only one who will need such a high dose? Also some days I feel really detached like I'm in abit of a dream? I don't know if this is related to depression or the medication? Has anyone else experienced this as I feel like I'm going crazy ConfusedSad
