Anyone taken the Kinsey scale test and not scored as ‘straight’ as they thought?

I’m gay and I came out a 5 on the scale, not sure why it wasn’t a 6 seeing as I answered honestly and consider myself exclusively attracted to women. Would love to know how others tested just out of sheer curiosity.

I actually have often wished I could be sexually attracted to women because I really like women much more than I like men. I feel safer with women, I enjoy female company but I have never fantasised in a sexual way about a woman or felt anything at all sexual for a woman and the one time I had a try at kissing a woman it did nothing at all for me, felt all wrong and I didn't want to take it any further. I can intellectually say what I think looks attractive in a woman but it's more what I would like to look like myself.

3, which I know already and is no surprise to me 😂 I’ve had sex with both men and women and fantasise about both.

TheKeatingFive · 18/05/2021 21:20

2, which feels accurate

Snugglepumpkin · 18/05/2021 21:21

I got a 0.

tigerbread20 · 18/05/2021 21:21
  1. I woukd have guessed 2 or 3
Hopdathelf · 18/05/2021 21:24

I’d think many people are second from either end of the scale if they aren’t homosexual but don’t find the idea of homosexual sex disgusting.

SpongeBobYFonts · 18/05/2021 21:25
  1. Sounds about right
Ughmaybenot · 18/05/2021 21:28

0, which is pretty accurate I’d say.

bitheby · 18/05/2021 21:30

I'm 3 which is what I would have guessed beforehand.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 18/05/2021 21:31

I got a zero - exclusively heterosexual sexual. I am heterosexual so not shocked by this.

Stormwhale · 18/05/2021 21:33
  1. I thought I was straight, but I really thought about it and answered truthfully. The women I find attractive are those who dress more masculine... im not sure what that means. The idea of sex with a woman is interesting, not repulsive, but I wouldn't actually want to act on it. I'm married anyway so it's a moot point, but im a bit shocked.
Sunny4876 · 18/05/2021 21:34

1

MojoJojo71 · 18/05/2021 21:35

I got a 2 which is what I expected. I’ve never had a relationship with another woman but I’ve met women I’ve been attracted to and wouldn’t rule it out.

CornishGem1975 · 18/05/2021 21:38

I scored 2 "This makes you heterosexual with more than incidental homosexual tendencies".

PeteWicksSexyPirate · 18/05/2021 21:38

I got 2, I have wondered if I’m bi. I’ve had sex with 1 woman in my late teens/early 20s and I’m definitely a tit woman but I’m not sure how I feel about other peoples fanjos 🤔

colouringindoors · 18/05/2021 21:40

"This makes you heterosexual with more than incidental homosexual tendencies."

Sounds about right Grin

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 18/05/2021 21:41
  1. Fairly accurate especially when I was younger.Grin
TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 18/05/2021 21:43

I got 2 but I would have thought it would be 3. I think it’s more down to the fact I’ve never had the opportunity to engage in sex or a romantic relationship with a woman, and I’m married to a man now so couldn’t anyway. I have no idea how emotionally close I could bond with a female partner, as I’m generally not very good at forming attachments anyway! So it’s a bit of a biased question list IMO.

SweetPetrichor · 18/05/2021 21:45

I get a 2 but I think this is slightly skewed by the fact I’ve only had sex with one person - my DP who is male - so Ive not had any chance to score a point with a female. I think realistically I’d be more of a 3 if it was more in depth.

cheeseismydownfall · 18/05/2021 21:46

I think the questions are too limiting (was Kinsey a man?!).

I have definitely felt myself drawn to charismatic women - I suppose you could say that I am attracted to them, in the literal sense of the word. But it is absolutely not a sexual attraction - I have never had any sexual feelings about a woman and consider myself heterosexual.

cheeseismydownfall · 18/05/2021 21:49

So yup, he's an Alfred Grin

I think this is such a ridiculously male take on sexuality and attraction. Attraction = wanting to have sex with someone.

I think a survey designed by a woman would be much more nuanced.

ChairmansReserve · 18/05/2021 21:50

3, about right.

LadyCatStark · 18/05/2021 21:51

1 but I think it wasn’t 0 because I only put sex with a man was tolerable 😂🤷‍♀️.

whosappleman · 18/05/2021 21:52

I'm a woman and I got a 3. I'd have thought I'd be a 2 as although I've had sex with women and find them attractive, I only desire men in terms of romantic relationships

Tinkywee · 18/05/2021 21:53

I read once that true attraction is 3 fold- sexual, emotional/romantic and physical attraction. I’m gay and I can say for sure I have never had emotional/ romantic feelings for a man and that’s what made me realise I was interested in women, that ‘spark’ has only ever been there for women despite finding some men physically attractive. I have all 3 of the above for women throughout my life.
