Tell me about Brighton

Looking to book a holiday in the UK. One place on our list is Brighton hopefully we will be able to go in September.(other places are in Cornwall but went there 2019 or Devon)
We are in our 60's but feel 40.
What should we make sure we see or do. We will be there Tuesday to Sunday.
Any other towns around there that we could visit for the day.

It’s really grimy and full of wanky types that think they’re the first people ever to be alternative and drink oat milk.

And the beach is shit.

It can be quite entertaining as a day trip if you’re in the right mood but I wouldn’t stay for that long. I’m sure there are some better options?!

I love Brighton, I live just down the road.

It's a shithole, I'd steer well clear

Find somewhere out of town to park, it costs a fortune! I was also quite shocked at how obvious the homelessness and drug problems are but maybe that’s just a U.K. seaside town thing.

The i360 flight is fun but choose a clear day. We also got the Volks electric railway down the seafront and played crazy golf at the end which was nice.

Hove was a lot nicer for eating out in my opinion. But places I recommend in Brighton -
Bohemia for drinks/fun cocktails
The new club for brunch
The House Restaurant for dinner

We stayed at the Brighton Harbour which was pricey but very nice and they have a spa as well where we had massages.

I lived near there for almost 20 years, I loathed the place. There is nothing interesting to do there unless you enjoy shopping and even then I've seen better shops.
Sorry.

Afternoon tea in the Grand
The Pavilion
Shops in the Lanes especially vintage - some are hidden down side streets

Walk along Hove Promenade along the Beach Huts, there is a popular ice cream place

BlueAgean · 18/05/2021 02:13

If you are into walking Seven Sisters.

Places to eat

Terre a Terre or Food for Friends - vegetarian
Riddle and Fin - oysters
Salt Rooms - fish

Hotel du Vin, Browns

Hove and Kemptown have some good restaurants.

Some pubs do good food.

Fish and chips on the beach and penny slots on the Pier.

The Marina is a bit soulless but ok for a meal or movie. Sealife Centre is sad. The Dome may have something on.

It used to be good fun for a day or two dirty weekend. But it has been a long time since I visited. And the beach is rubbish!

BlueAgean · 18/05/2021 02:39

Also nearish-Arundel, Hastings are historically interesting.

what about eastbourne, much nicer in my opinion, and there's beachy head and birling gap.
