Best accounting software for self employed?

My friend has recently become a self employed courier. He isn’t business minded, and has come from a completely different profession where he was an employee.

So which are the best, simplest accountancy software packages and their cost?

Thanks in advance

I work as a Finance Manager for a SME and weuse Xero, which I think is great Far more user-friendly than Sage.

Does any one have any experience of Microsoft Finance? I participated in a webinar at the start of the year where they were showing off the new product and it looked very good. I'm not even sure if its been launched yet (must google it). I reckon it will take off, as most Microsoft programs do, and will become the status quo in time.

I had a similar situation when I went self-employed, coming from a regular 9-to-5 job. I wasn’t exactly a whiz with finances either. I ended up using a small business accounting software that was super straightforward and affordable.

The software I chose had a clean interface and made tracking income and expenses really easy, which was a huge relief. It also helped me with invoicing and keeping everything organized. I’d recommend finding a package that’s user-friendly and fits within a budget—something that simplifies the process rather than complicates it. Your friend should be able to find a good fit with some of the top-reviewed options out there.
