Really pleased to be able to sit in and have a drink so headed there after school run half expecting not to get a table as there are less tables with social distancing and always seemed busy last time....

Nobody there! I stayed for a few hours it was joyful. Only two tables (at separate times) were occupied the time I was there yet all the outside seating was taken despite the rain (the outdoors has cover). Are people too nervous to sit indoors or maybe they didn’t notice? All I know is I was so happy to drink out of a proper list cup inside Smile

Oh it was just the outside full now I’m thinking about it .. given the inside wasn’t even open baby brain! 😂

Pre covid
Unless it was absolutely freezing me and dh have always chosen to sit outside
If it had a cover over that was a bonus.

Where I am the outside parts of cafes and most restaurants are full.

Haven't been to Costa yet but my local independent cafe has been rammed both inside and out every lunchtime that I've been there. Might head to Costa today just to see if it's the same!

Wonder if it's partly to do with WFH as well? I quite often go to Costa if there's one on my way back from work or on my lunch break, but if I was at home I wouldn't make a special trip out for it

It's a shame that you aren't supporting independent cafes instead of a massive corporation

Hmm

What I have noticed is that last summer the clientele was unusually young even for places that normally attracted older customers, but now it’s back to being the elderly again.
Clearly vaccine status makes a big difference to how ready people feel to go out.

I think it depends where you live. We are in N Wales in a small county, we are a bit clannish so supporting independents, maybe living in a city it would be harder to know who the independents are. We know the takeaways have worked through lockdown so are supporting the indoor places opened up on Monday this week.
