iPhone keeps restarting

So my iPhone keeps restarting by itself.
I've googled and it recommends downloading the latest update but I can't as it keeps restarting before the update has finished!

Anyone any ideas please?
Sorry this is rushed- I'm typing it before it restarts again!

Is it 1st or 2nd generation?

Its basically forced complete restart of your phone.

Hold down the power button, home button and the volume down button until the phone turns off and keep holding them down until the apple logo appears.

It sounds like it’s stuck in a restart loop so it should hopefully fix it.

(DP says it’s the equivalent of ‘turning it off and on again’ for an iPhone) 😂

Tried that but it brought up an emergency sos call option and was about to ring so I had to cancel that!

Try just the power and the home button.

I have same issue with my iPhone se sometimes.hold down power button and home at same time- takes a few seconds-leave it off for a minute then restart

I had this with an earlier iPhone-it was a software issue with an app I had. It's been awhile but I contacted the Apple helpline and that's what they told me, and once I updated my software it improved some.

will look into software update if it stays on long enough which I don't think it will!

But if that doesn’t work my next advice would be to plug your phone into a computer and update using iTunes.

For the hard restart you need to hold down the power and home button and keep holding them down continuously even when it goes off right until the apple logo appears.
