Obsessy mumsnetters- what's your current passing obsession?

I had a thread here a few months ago about passing obsessions and was surprised to find how many other mumsnetters have them (and it gave me some good ideas for future obsessions too Grin ).

After a period of Elliott Smith, I've now moved on to the Columbine Massacre, and am hellbent on reading as many in depth psychological profiles of the shooters as I can lay my hands on, to find out what went wrong and how/why it happened 😬 It was sparked off by listening to the compelling Confronting Columbine podcast.

Annoying too because my Elliott Smith phase ended when I was smack bang in the middle of William Todd Shultz's excellent biography, though I'm sure I'll come back to it at a later stage.

So, what's your current passing obsession?

@PictureNest

99 cal Birthday cake bars Blush No idea why I love them so much, not using them as a treat substitute, they are the treat I want! Bloody lovely little things.

DS (3), also adores them... so they just be genuinely nice? He would pick them over chocolate, and he loves chocolate

Yes they are so nice!

my current obsession is creating a political manifesto.

i’m currently obsessed with watching disappeared. i watch an episode and then go into a deep dive on reddit and the internet to see if the case has been resolved, if there are any suspects, any theories about the case. it’s fascinating, but scary to think that one day you could just vanish off the face of the earth and nobody would have any idea what happened to you.

Everest deaths, the Watts family murders and crime scene clean up videos are my recent obsessions. Also like looking through Jane and John Doe cases. It’s so good that the advance in DNA technology means more of these people are getting their names back, and in some cases justice is being done if they have been murdered and their murderer is finally caught.

Watching motherland
Eating crunchies
Growing a strawberry patch
Trying to work out what stocks I can buy to increase my pension
Planning what I would do when I win the lottery

The TV series Outlander.
We binged watched all 5 seasons in a matter of weeks.
I’m totally and utterly obsessed with it, and I’m head over heels in love with the main character Jamie Fraser (actor Sam Heughan).
DH thinks it’s hilarious, but hasn’t complained that our sex life seems to have increased ten fold 😂

I spent a couple of days learning all about that poor USAF Airman who tragically crashed off the coast of Flamborough last year.
I've even ended up seeing a video tribute made by his wife (of only 3 weeks!) and it broke my heart. He seemed like such a lovely, lovely guy. I was really sad and genuinely down for several days afterwards.

They only managed to recover the lower half of his body :(

I will forever adore the Trilogy.

Thanks for the recommendations of Dave Cullen's book, I spent most of yesterday listening on audible and am eager to get stuck back in later. Not the best thing to listen to while dropping off to sleep though Confused The things we get obsessed with, eh!

I'm intrigued with the Everest deaths obsession and may need to check it out myself!
