Testing after vaccine

I had the second dose of the vaccine last Weds. The doctor at the site said not to test even if we got symptoms 'for a few days'. I started with a hacking cough on Thursday. No other symptoms except a dry persistent cough. I can't find anything online to say whether I should test or not. Does anyone know?

Possibly a communication mix up but I'd you get a fever/headache etc and no other symptom within 48 hours of the vaccine then you don't need to test as it's a side effect from the vaccine. I wouldn't say a hacking cough is a side effect from a vaccine and therefore you do need to test. I don't know why you wouldn't. It's not 100% and you could be spreading it.

Cough isn't a normal side effect, so yes you should test.
The no need to test advice is more for fever.

I work at a vaccine hub and the advice is to remember that the vaccine isn't 100% effective. Therefore if you have symptoms you should test.

To add, the vaccine (whichever one you had) won't give you a false positive.

Thanks very much. Have booked a test.
