How to watch Eurovision in the garden!

Toreportornot · 15/05/2021 23:44

I know it’s predictable and naff, but a good excuse to have friends over in the garden to watch it!
Trying to work out the logistics though - if I take a smart TV outside, can I watch it live on BBC I player? Are there any other options? I have sky and an iPad.

You can be inside by then Hmm

soupforbrains · 15/05/2021 23:47

Unless you are planning on having more than 6/2 households you can be indoors.

If you are planning a bigger gathering than I would suggest not putting a tv outside but instead putting it in a patio door so that in case of rain etc. It’s not any sort of electrical risk. That way you can probably keep it all rigged up to the usual things and watch as normal. But I expect that you will be able to watch on iplayer live if that is your only option too. You’ll need a great wifi connection though for it to stream without issues.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 15/05/2021 23:50

Watch it indoors?

Toreportornot · 15/05/2021 23:58

In Wales so can’t have that many people indoors.

So you're going to subject all your neighbours to your noise? Right. Hope it tips rain down.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 16/05/2021 00:02

I bloody love Eurovision but damned if I’m watching it on someone glitchy TV out in the garden, probably being rained on.

gurglebelly · 16/05/2021 00:31

Well that would make you a total twat of a neighbour. It is not fair to subject people to that shit

osbertthesyrianhamster · 16/05/2021 01:05

Exactly! So bloody sick of other peoples' music.
NakedBanana · 16/05/2021 08:25

Ffs sake if my neighbour decided to have some friends round and watch Eurovision outside I'd be happy for them.

It's one bloody night and they're great neighbours. Lovely to see them having some fun during these shit times.

However if they were wild party animals with banging parties every night and I'd be pretty pissed off.

So all the Judgy McJudgepants need to reel it in, you have no idea what the OP is like as a neighbour for all you know she may even be thinking of inviting them!

I've been seeing this more and more on MNet!

freakyfridays · 16/05/2021 08:28

with headphones.

newnortherner111 · 16/05/2021 09:01

I see the weather forecast is rain (at least for Cardiff), better have a plan B.

ImInStealthMode · 16/05/2021 09:05

Jesus none of you even know that the OP has got neighbours, she could be in the middle of nowhere!

No advice re: the TV OP but I've seen people use a small projector and a sheet over a washing line for outdoor viewing before now, could that work?

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 16/05/2021 09:35

You're probably going to need something to shield the TV from the sun so the glare doesn't mean you can't see the screen - a fold up clothes airer or even a large cardboard box opened out and out around the telly and a blanket over the top will work.

Toreportornot · 16/05/2021 09:47

Loving the comments about neighbours! 😂 I can assure you it wouldn’t be that noisy, I’m very respectful of my neighbours and we all get on really well. It’s really not going to be a wild night! 😂
To others... thanks for the suggestions.

Unclench people.

When we've done it in the past for football the tv has gone under a gazebo. Wouldn't do it in the rain though.

thelegohooverer · 16/05/2021 10:59

@freakyfridays that’s what I was thinking

SmidgenofaPigeon · 16/05/2021 11:08

Football doesn’t go on till until past midnight though....

Topseyt · 16/05/2021 16:40

Under golf umbrellas? One each, and wearing waterproofs. 😎☔

Neither does Eurovision these days
SmidgenofaPigeon · 16/05/2021 16:47

@MotherOfGodWeeFella yes it does, it doesn’t start till 8! It doesn’t go on as late as it did in the old days but it’s scheduled to go on for four hours...so that is midnight!

PyjamaFan · 16/05/2021 16:50

What an unbelievably selfish thing to do.

Unless you live in the depths of the countryside with no neighbours nearby please don't even consider this.

And mocking other people who have made comments like mine? Nice.

You've told us exactly who you are.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 16/05/2021 16:53

@SmidgenofaPigeon - I'm looking at the BBC1 schedule now and it's due to finish by 11.45pm on Saturday. Even if it overruns it should be done by midnight.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 16/05/2021 16:54

How pedantic 😂

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 16/05/2021 17:20

Accurate is how I see it Grin

CarrieBlue · 16/05/2021 18:21

Lucky neighbours
