Been told im reckless to consider opting for cut pay

I live in midlands/north and earn 65k. I’m 35. It should go up a little more to around 75k without promotion, or over 100k if I go for promotion.

I’m happy earning what I earn. I have enough money and will have paid student loan off in a year so that will be a 300 pay rise a month anyway.

I wanted to go down to four days a week to pursue a hobby. The two friends I have discussed this with think it is absolutely crazy, that actually my pay is average and I will wish I had worked harder and done the promotion Confused

I feel conflicted now. Am I being reckless?! Me and dp live together but I have my own home rented out (this is technically his house). Our combined income is 158k and would go down to around 135k if I did this. I haven’t told DP my plan yet as he is very career focused and I want to be sure in my mind what I want to do before telling him.

Friends also saying if me and dp broke up how would I live off 52k a year for four days a week. Am I being reckless do you think? At the moment I save 1k ish a month and wouldn’t be able to do that on 52k I don’t think. It’s made me second guess myself! I don’t want to just work all my life and my hobby is really important to me. Conflicted.
