How many old photos do you have and how do you store them?

We have pulled out all the family photos (some in albums and some in old cardboard folders from the photo shop (most of these are from the 1990s and older).

Do you have lots of old photos? What do you do with them? I will probably throw some but not sure what to do with the rest. I don’t want to put them in albums but feels wrong to throw them out!

Hundreds of them. In around 3 boxes in the bottom of the wardrobe and a drawer full in one of the drawers in the sideboard.
Whenever I see them I get a little panic. There are so many of them, I don’t know what to do with them all but can’t throw any out. Even the blurry ones bring back memories of collecting the packet of photos and the events captured in the packet.

DGM, when we were clearing her house, had hundreds of packets of photos. I actually couldn’t look at them because I would end up wanting to keep them and I have enough of my own. I figured they were her memories not mine.

We’ve got rid of a lot today, but kept the ones with special memories.

Get rid of views of places, hills, seascapes, etc. They never come out as good as the real thing looked.

If you have duplicates of people in the same place, then pick the nicest and get rid of the others.

That will be a start.

Scan them to disc? Make multiple copies, then each child will have them going forward

I have scanned alle old photos and slides (starting around 1900) and added names and dates to the files.
But then I do family research.

For my DD I did a "Firstname - the first 18 years" photobook.
