Is there anything to worry about here or is it simply just the fact they like this particular line and it pops into their head so they just sing it?

In this case it's the " E, I, E, I, O" from old Macdonald's farm!
Like if he's getting dressed, or like right now having his lunch with DH I can here him just randomly say it.
I know I could just be overthinking this but it seems like a "tick"
Or is this normal?! Sorry first time mum. He's 21months old

I don't think is anything to be concerned about at all. Have you never had a catchy song stuck in our own head?

Yes I did think this too. But I'm a worrier!

Do you then sing the rest of it to help him learn it or remember it? My DD does this with let it go from frozen so I carry the song on for the couple of lines I remember

EastWestWhosBest · 15/05/2021 13:48

I do this and I’m a full grown adult!
I do it in my head mainly but sometimes I forget myself and say it out loud.

Yes we do most of the time :)

It's probably just his favourite line Smile

My dad has just taught my DS a mash up of fireman Sam and postman pat, so now I listen to

"Fireman Sam, fireman Sam, fireman Sam and his black and White cat" (sung to the postman pat tune) over and over and over and over...

Jongleurterre · 15/05/2021 14:07

Bob the Builder!
Can we fix it?
Bob the Builder!
Yes we can!

My daughter used to randomly start singing Bob the Builder in a sweet sing song voice with the last line shouted in an aggressive manner!

Horehound · 15/05/2021 14:07

Haha that's funny @sar302 although maybe not so to you lol

My son did the ‘Trip trap, trip trap, who’s stepping on my bridge?’ from the Billy Goats Gruff randomly and with intent for some months when he was a toddler. We thought it was 😄. He would say the bridge in a low and growly voice.

sar302 · 15/05/2021 14:11

@Horehound Weve had a few funny looks when he sings it on the swings Grin

I definitely think they get little toddler ear-worms!

midnightstar66 · 15/05/2021 14:40

It's the but he remembers and knows how to say. I still do this and I'm 41 though so not entirely just age related

SquatBetty · 15/05/2021 14:48

DS used to recite the Swashbuckle Salute at random times of the day when he was little. It's definitely toddler ear-worms!

TroysMammy · 15/05/2021 14:51

Try having a nearly 11 years old who still randomly sings, it's like being in a West End Musical. Luckily she's my niece so I give her back. I do feel for you but I would say it's nothing to be concerned about, just get ear plugs.

Numnumcookie · 15/05/2021 14:54

If there's something wrong with your toddler there's something wrong with me Grin.

Ducksurprise · 15/05/2021 14:57

@Numnumcookie

If there's something wrong with your toddler there's something wrong with me Grin.
And something wrong with my teenager. Sadly he can't carry a tune but that doesn't stop him ruining a line from his latest favourite song 50 times a day. It's not cute anymore.
Horehound · 15/05/2021 16:53

Haha thanks everyone, made me smile :)
