Help with 12year old son's speech

Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to help my son with his speech?
He is 12 years old (year 7) and has dyspraxia and has many traits for Aspergers.
His speech is incredibly fast and most family members have difficulty in understanding him. I found a private speech therapist but he doesn't want professional help as he feels he will be seen as being 'different' from his friends. I have tried recording his speech to show him how fast it is, but he's convinced that the recording is simply not clear enough!
He's a lovely lad, but he has confidence issues, so I would love to be able to help him improve on this aspect of his condition.
I have researched it a bit and it may be classed as 'cluttering'.
Any help would be very welcome.
