Those who have done an MBA

What did it lead on to you doing career wise and what was your background prior to doing it? Currently half way through my course and really starting to think about where I want to go with it afterwards. I am a healthcare professional by background but work mainly in a leadership role presently. However I'm totally up for doing something different so would really love to hear from anybody about what possibilities it opened up you?

Doesn’t it depend what type of course you’re doing and what options you’ve chosen?

The people I know from the mba have all gone in different directions.

Off the top of my head - emerging markets exports, international high net worth individuals’ financial management, banking, trading, hedge fund management, “thought leadership” (I don’t know what that is either), government regulatory roles connected to business/finance, teaching business.....

The careers service on mba courses tend to be pretty good!

My sister did an MBA with Oxford Brookes. She worked in publishing and had no qualifications at all. She had years of experience but Achieving the MBA gave her credibility and she was made a Director of the firm.

I did one back in the dark ages and it didn't help me one bit. After it I changed careers to one which required my first degree and my MBA was never mentioned (retired now).
