Am I being scammed?

I woke up this morning to a bunch of order confirmation emails from Simply Be and a change of address email. I haven't ordered anything so I checked my account but nothing is appearing on there, so I'm guessing there's been another account set up in my name Angry. The name on the confirmation email is a shortened version of my name and NOT the name on my actual Simply be account.
The first thing I did was check my experian credit report, but nothing dodgy is showing up there, would it take a while to show up??
What do I do? Nothing like this has ever happened to me before!

Are there any orders on your account? Can you see the address change?

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 15/05/2021 06:59

Ring simply be. Make sure you use the number on your statements or web and not on the emails.
Sometimes scammers will send fake statements then ask you to click on an email which will then get you to re-enter details to "protect " your account when really it means they will have your details

No, just 1 old order that was definitely mine.

Yeah you need to talk to them and let them know so they can lock the account and cancel the orders.

This was my first thought, but the email seems to be legit and actually from Simply Be.

Yes, the same thing happened to me with simply Be. They were very good about it. I cancelled my account with them though.

SimplyBeing · 15/05/2021 07:06

But how will I be able to tell them to lock the account when I don't have any details for it? There's no account number on the email, the address is different and when I log in with the email it just goes to my actual account?

Call them and sort it out in case it is a scam, but it is just as possible that someone with the same name as you has set up an account and put a typo in their email address. Check your bank statement for any money going out, but so long as it hasn't then simply be should hopefully just be able to sort it as a mistake.

Basically, take action as if it's a scam, but it's probably just an honest mistake

Have you got a Gmail account? I do, and sometimes get legitimate emails for other Vinces.

Eg, I am [email protected] and get emails for [email protected].

It's a Google glitch apparently. Are the emails being sent to your exact email address?
