My DH's niece is 18 and in hospital, has been for 10 days. Not entirely sure what is going on with her and I don't really know what she likes that well now that she's older and lives in a different part of the country from me.

I want to send her a parcel.

So far I have socks that say "fuck" and "off" on the soles. That is the sort of stuff she likes. She's funny and irreverent, and alone, scared and waiting to find out if she has life altering diagnosis. Anyone able to give me suggestions for what a scared, sassy teen might like in a parcel?

I used to like Calvin and Hobbes when I was that age. Still like it now. That's a good idea, it's not something that needs concentration and it is really quite uplifting.

I'm heart sore for her. It's just rubbish to be poorly, never mind at 18,never mind in a pandemic.

Notebook and pen is a good idea. And lard. Lashings of lard. Ta.

Nice food, and as much of it as you can send!
I've been in hospital loads of times it's rubbish, but the worst thing really is the food if you have no access to anything but hospital food.
Saying that, a new pair of nice jamas would go down well with me too.

as a teen ill give you some suggestions

Socks were a great pick, funny and novel.
Food like chocolate and sweets
Something to fidget with. i got a fidget spinner in 2016 when i was in hospital and that was great. recently got a fake butterfly knife thing while i was in isolation with covid, those are great wee things u can do a lot of tricks

Amazing,t hanks for all these ideas.

I've got a parcel with the amusing book, cosy socks, ear plugs and plenty of nice nibbles. I'll post it up on Monday and hope she gets home soon.

Hope you are feeling brighter, Just Some
