Hi everyone,

I was offered an nhs job today as a receptionist and they will now request references.
Can anyone advise what they do and what they ask?
Do they send a request via email? Is it a form or link they click to answer the questions? How does it work!
Not worried too much apart from some sickness days really.

Can’t wait to start but understand it’s slow.
The dbs check for receptionist is it a standard or enhanced ?

Thank you xx

Normal sent a link by email that's then completed and submitted.
Recruitment team will tell you what dbs you need and send a link once they have your ID.
You'll also probably get occupational health clearance too.

That's what happens in my trust. You normally get a conditional offer letter then a formal offer letter once everything is done from recruitment point of view, then arrange a start date (which can be really quick if you are able to / not working / have a short notice period.

It would be worth asking about cut off for pay roll - I always recommend people start at the beginning of a month because the payroll forms go in and you'll get paid at the end. If you start too late in a month, you don't get paid until the end of the following month.

That’s really helpful thank you!! I’m not working (coming to end of mat leave) so I can start ASAP. Hoping the checks don’t take too long ☺️ I will chase the references up too to make sure.

Lauren xx
