What’s peoples experiences with them?
Seen a couple of horror stories on here recently!

And being cheeky but has anyone got any referral codes?

To be honest, it's pretty much like hiring any self-catering property nowadays (I only ever go for ones that are a whole property, rather than a room in someone's house). You book it, owner sends you access arrangements, you turn up, stay, have a quick clean, leave. Some are lovely, some are less lovely - look at the pics, location and reviews.

Only used them twice. First place had no problem. Lovely property and host. Second time was awful. Dirty inside and out, no WiFi as advertised so couldn't check what was supposed to be included and then accused of stealing the hairdryer from the property. Owner threatened me with the police and told me her kids would have to go without Christmas presents so she could replace it. Haven't used Air BnB since then.

Used several times, some are great some are more tired, but that's usually reflected in the price and the reviews!

Mixed here. I've had bookings cancelled with no reasons months after I made them. I've had great stays. I've also heard horror stories about people being cancelled last minute if there is a way they can sell the place for more (not through Airbnb but another channel). On the whole I think it's a good site and will use it again but choose accommodation wisely. People often sell through other channels too so make sure you Google to see which is cheaper.

Forgot to say they no longer do guest referrals, there's only a discount if you're a first time host.

I've used them a lot, all over the UK and abroad, from USA to Iceland. I've never had a bad experience. The most basic one was when a family emergency meant I had to stay in a very touristy town in high season and had to book a place with no running hot water (except a shower, thank goodness) but it was clean and cosy with a gorgeous welcome pack. The most luxurious one was huge - we each had a vast bedroom with double beds, ensuite, TVs in the rooms.

What they all had in common was they were clean, central and incredibly good value.

But this year I looked and prices and availability seemed poor so I checked out some traditional holiday lets and found much better quality there. I'd still use them again. All good experiences.

I am in one now Smile This is the 4th one I have been to and they have all been amazing. We usually pick ones in rural areas. I would advise you check the reviews but the best one we stayed in had no reviews as it was new so its not always the case that no reviews means a shithole

I've hosted hundreds of guests and only cancelled once in 8 years.
I've also only had to report 3 so it's not been too bad for that either!
