Hi all. So my husband buys me snacks and popped them on the side last week near our drawers and I put them in my cupboard. I ate one a day later and just ate another now. Not realising they are kinder milk and honey milk slices that need to be in the fridge. :( I feel so stupid. They tasted weird both times but I thought it was the honey in them. They say 40% fresh pasteurised milk. I'm so worried, I'm 24 weeks pregnant and I've read that listeriosis can even not cause symptoms til 2 months later. I spoke to a midwife who said I have to wait for symptoms and go from there. Am I being silly... should I ring gp tmoro? :(

Can I add they've been out of the fridge a week tomorrow.

Well I don't know about that but I can tell you that I drank warm rancid milk by accident out of the bottle, I bought it at a petrol station and got home and took a swig and although the taste made me instantly want to vomit (it was lumpy) I wasn't actually sick I spat it out.
I was 26 weeks pregnant I had no ill effects other than never buying milk from the night window of a garage ever again!!!

My baby was fine btw

Can’t you only get listeria from unpasteurised milk? I imagine at most you will just vomit or have an upset tummy as it’s ‘off’.
If you are worried ring your G.P tomorrow.

I don't think listeria is a risk here because it's a sealed product. Listeria would have to have been present in the product to begin with which is unlikely.

If the dairy had gone off you may get ill within the next day or so. But there's a lot of sugar in these bars which acts as a preservative.

If the second one tasted the same as the first one I'd guess that neither was off, they just don't taste very nice. Products like that are so highly processed you could probably leave them out for weeks with no ill effects.

Thank you everyone. I am so worried I will hurt her.
I just took another out and smelt the creamy stuff inside it doesn't smell off just weird like the honey and cake.
Really appreciate all of your help.
