Need change!

I want to give my son some pocket money - I was thinking £3 per week. But where on earth does one get change these days? I literally haven’t used cash since lockdown started. I’ve been Googling to see how I can get some notes changed into coins but it seems nowhere???? Is this correct?

You can go to the bank. I used to do this. Take £40 and ask for 2 bags of £20 in £1 coins.

Get him a go Henry and transfer on there.

Post office - I do this for bus fares (get bags of 20p).

Apparently the post office won’t do anymore in case of money laundering

And I heard banks will only do if you have a business account

@idontlikealdi he’s so young I think he needs to understand money is a tangible thing

Withdraw some money from the atm. Go and buy a chocolate bar or something small and you will get change. The vast majority of stores and local shops are taking cash.

I need coins and once a week I go to a burger van and change up £20.00 for £1 coins, making sure I check that they aren’t duds!

I guess it depends where you are. Busses wont take cash here, everything is on card.

Maybe just take a tenner into a corner shop buy something small and ask for coins in change?

Yeah that seems only option. Wish there was somewhere I could just do it easily!
