Shock Why is the world watching and doing nothing?

Because the history over the decades is so appallingly complex. The allies after World War 2 created this situation. I'm not sure how we unpick it.

The PLO and Hamas have been aggressive terrorists in the past. Israel is in the ascendancy, aggressionwise, at the moment. It hasn't always been that way.

bungabungaboo · 12/05/2021 19:40

It is complex I absolutely agree, but surely if a bomb is dropped everyone knows it is highly likely a child will be killed, it is so sad 😞

It's awful. Hamas and similar with terrorist or aggressive intent are known to use children as human shields. So wrong.

bungabungaboo · 12/05/2021 19:43

But these are children that live in the area not being used as 'human shields'

Sad

I think it's shocking that a population is so unbalanced. How can the population be so young?

It doesn't help that it's a radicalised population, very young or not.

TheDiddlyGang · 12/05/2021 22:57

Why is the world watching and doing nothing?

  • America and other powerful countries.
  • Money
  • Fear of being labelled anti Semitic; the myriad of non anti Semitic threads on here pulled for daring to condemn Israel’s actions is evidence of that on a very small scale.
LemonRoses · 12/05/2021 23:08

It’s horrible. Then firing rockets into any civilian population is horrible. It’s so sad seeing communities being destroyed in Palestine, in Israel, in Yemen, In Syria. Otis complex but it’s always the innocent who pay the price of power and greed.

ViciousJackdaw · 12/05/2021 23:16

I'm not sure why the percentage of children is significant? Every single person on the Gaza strip matters, regardless of age.

daretodenim · 12/05/2021 23:22

I am fed up of hearing "Hamas uses children as human shields" on here. As though that's an end to the discussion because Israel would never do that.

Only Israel has very much done that. I know someone who was put on a jeep type of military vehicle by Israeli troops in Lebanon. He was just a kid and he lives with the ramifications of that decades on. So fair enough, say Hamas have done it, but don't forget to add that they're not the only ones.

Or just stop cherry picking atrocities and focus on the families who are currently being evicted so Israeli settlers can move into their homes. Which is what this is all about RIGHT NOW. If there was no eviction threat, there'd have been no protests this past week.

daretodenim · 12/05/2021 23:23

*he was put in the front of the jeep as it drove through "hostile" territory, to stop the soldiers in the jeep being shot back at.

Nandakanda · 13/05/2021 05:42

Hamas are firing rockets indiscriminately into Israel whereas Israeli ones are at least targeted. Gaza has a far higher population density and a higher percentage of kids, so casualties will be higher.

Israeli has every right to defend itself, and it's also the only non-Muslim state remaining in MENA. Ask yourselves how that situation arose.

bungabungaboo · 13/05/2021 06:52

The reason I mention children is because adults are responsible for their actions, children are not Sad

I agree about Syria too.

Hardly reported on any news channel apart from C4, not in any depth

Milomonster · 13/05/2021 08:25

What has the world done about previous atrocities involving children, for example, Syria? Nothing. This is no surprise.

TheDiddlyGang · 13/05/2021 11:15

You do realise that Palestine has no army, Navy or Air Force...?
Hamas is a militant group getting weapons from Iran, they have no where close to the same amount of money as Israel!
Certainly not enough for a guided missile system.

This. The only ‘guided attacks’ they even have access to is suicide attacks, but even then where possible Palestinian militants target army bases and troops much more often than they do civilians.

It’s messy situation. Bombs will not solve anything unless one side can kill everyone on the other side and “it ends”. That’s not going happen so it will continue to be one for one and Gaza kids will suffer because no where to run to or shelters unlike Israel. That’s not to say one side is right or wrong I don’t understand enough just one side will have more casualty based on living conditions and space.

Plenty of countries in the world like Yemen and world leaders happy just letting it happen. When there can never be a solution that both sides will agree on not sure you can ever solve the issue.
