Passport renewal waiting times

coffeecakeandtea · 12/05/2021 16:06

My passport has just expired and am planning to renew it, however due to Covid I've heard that there are delays and backlogs. I was just wondering if anyone has renewed their passport lately and how long it took for it to be delivered?

Thanks!

I renewed mine last month. It took six days from sending it off to receiving the new one

I renewed dd's last month, applied on Friday, they received the old passport on Wednesday and we had the passport a week later.

We renewed our daughters, took about a week from the start to getting the new passport back

About a week, I was pretty much updated daily. Eg we have received your application, send your old one back. We have it. We are processing it. We are sending your new passport.

Mine took a week. Got it back yesterday

Renewing is quick and easy. I did mine in Nov and it came back the same week! I thought it had been returned due to error.

I was warned it would be 10 weeks for a child... it was a couple.

The system has got easier with the codes for the photo and photo signitory all done online. Quite refreshing to have a genuine improvement from a government agency Grin

Mine took a week, less than a month ago. If you do it all on line and upload a suitable photo, the main thing is sending the old one back because they don't start till they get that one.

I had to do my sons passport on the paper form and it took 2-3 weeks, which included them writing to my referee. They did text me and say it could be up to 10 weeks, but it was pretty quick.

Thanks everyone! Sounds much quicker than I expected!
