Anyone able to sleuth where a napkin ring was bought? Probably Fife.

Weird, I know, but I've seen stranger things happen on mn!

DS was kindly given this napkin ring when he was born in 2018. I love it, and I'd love to get one the same (or ideally same style but a different colour) for DD. And this is why I can't just ask the relative who gave it to us where it's from. I feel it would seem rude and point out she didn't buy one for DD, when the reality is she was more than generous posting us lots of lovely clothes for DD. Please don't tell me to just ask her, I'm really not going to!

I can't find it in any obvious online retailers, and it's very likely it was bought in an independent shop in St Andrew's, Cupar or poss even Dundee (yes, I know not Fife!). I don't suppose anyone has seen them anywhere?

Is the coloured part metal or enamel? I don’t live around there but just to make it clearer for those who do?

NapkinRing · 12/05/2021 10:52

Thank you for replying. I don't really know! I would guess not as it seems like there might be a glaze/varnish over the top of the coloured outside, and definitely not the edges or centre, but I could be completely wrong!

They used to be sold in Pink String & Sealing Wax but they closed down a couple of years ago (might be why your dd didn't get 1) sorry I don't know of anywhere else that still sell them

Just googled enamel napkin ring and quite a few came up that look similar.

MarthaJonesPhone · 12/05/2021 11:07

Wayfair have similar if you search brass/enamel napkin ring.

Maisie and Mac have shops in Cupar and Dundee website. They do some lovely bits like your napkin ring.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 12/05/2021 11:22

Maisie & mac in Cupar might be a possibility. It's one of my mum's favourite shops and they definitely sell fancy homewares.

Jongleurterre · 12/05/2021 11:25

The teal one is out of stock but they have a caramel one for 50p

Oh wow, thank you! So much to go on. I hadn't even thought of enamel to use as a search term. Amazing.

You could also ask pretend to your relative that you want one for a friend’s new baby and ask on that basis.

BettyUnderswoob · 12/05/2021 14:12

Yes, I should just ask the relative if I were you... just say you like it so much you'd like to buy another.
I can't see why anyone would object to that 🤷‍♀️

Hope you find what you're looking for!

There are loads of little independent shops around that neck of the woods so quite hard to narrow it down. Hopefully you find a suitable companion for it online.

Is buying a napkin ring for a baby a thing? I've never heard of it.

NapkinRing · 12/05/2021 15:41

@NotReallyFeelingIt No, I don't think they are. It just happened to be one of a bundle of items which she sent to DS. And because I like it (and I also like tidiness and order), I thought I'd prefer to get a matching one for DD rather than non matching.
