and I’m struggling! Been up most of the night with tummy ache, been a bit sick half an hour ago and feel like I’m waiting for it to happen at any moment. My stomach feels like it’s literally in knots. I’m desperate to run away or get in my car. How awful am I? Partner has offered to stay up but he’s got a really important meeting in a few hours and I feel like I need to face my fear.
Anyone awake?

Hand hold op! Hope you and your little one feel better soon. I can't stand being around people being sick so I dread it when my kids get it but you'll get through it!

Thank you so much. Just you replying is making me feel less alone. I need to calm down, everything feels worse in the night!

100% everything definitely feels worse at night. Just try to get through the next few hours and hopefully things will seem better in the morning. How old are your DC?

She’s just turned 7. She’s been great but is only falling asleep now! I’m shattered. Why are you up if you don’t mind me asking?

OP posts:
seashellsseashore · 12/05/2021 04:46

Bless her, I hope she feels better soon. I'm currently in hospital and the ward has been so noisy all night that I've given up on any hope of sleep Confused

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/05/2021 04:49

Sorry to hear that, I hope you’re ok. Very annoying that it’s so noisy. Are you likely to be in for much longer?

Thank you. I'm hoping to be home today but depends on test results. Think I've slipped a disc in my back that may be pressing my nerves so I'm just waiting for an mri and then see what the dr says

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/05/2021 04:54

That must be so painful. Fingers crossed for you. What are you doing to keep yourself occupied? I’ve felt this night has dragged so much, think I need more websites to go on rather than mainly Mumsnet. We’ve had a range of films on all night and I’m hoping she falls asleep soon so I can watch Motherland on Netflix!

Not a lot really other than trawling through Mumsnet Grin. I'm hoping my scan will be first thing so I can get home! Although I have a 2 and 3 year old at home so I am enjoying just being able to lay in bed for a while without having to get up and sort little ones out Blush. Oo I loved motherland! Fingers crossed your dd goes to sleep soon and you get some peace and quiet!

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/05/2021 05:03

Oh god, you’re busy then! My other child is 5 and a half so I remember those days. I used to fantasise about lying in bed somewhere on my own! Hope you’re first to be seen. Thanks for keeping me company, I’ve got to be at work in 3 hours and it’s not looking good for her going to sleep! Luckily it’s a shorter day today. Take care 😊

I used to suffer with this so badly.

Until I got diagnosed with a chronic illness that means I constantly vomit Grin

Hand hold OP. I can remember those times.

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/05/2021 05:07

Oh god that sounds awful, I’m so sorry to hear that.
Thank you! Not sure how I’m going to manage at work this morning, I feel so anxious about her being sick again. Mumsnet has got me through this long night!

Thank you Thanks

If you've both been up all night and she still isn't well can you take the day off?

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/05/2021 05:31

I’m a teacher and don’t want to make it difficult for my school, only off if I need to be. Hard to get cover with Covid as they’re trying not to break bubbles. Thanks though 😊 Got a 1 o clock finish today so not too bad. Partner working from home so is here this morning.
You are up early!

garlictwist · 12/05/2021 05:34

Hand hold here. Vomit is my biggest fear. My other half was up being sick a few weeks ago and I ran away and hid in the lounge. I had full on heart palpitations all night and felt like I couldn't breathe. It's awful, isn't it?

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/05/2021 05:38

I can really sympathise. If my partner is ill I completely lose it and start panicking. I find it hard if a child is sick at work but I pull myself together, just trying to do that tonight. Had this problem since being a child, I get annoyed at myself. Thanks for the support 😊

I had a severe fear of throwing up or anyone throwing up around me incase it made me throw up , until I developed really hyperemesis , so I understand how you feel.

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/05/2021 05:52

How did you manage with that? Being that sick was my fear in pregnancy. Even reading reports of how sick Kate Middleton was used to make me panic.

OP posts:
BeingATwatItsABingThing · 12/05/2021 05:59

Oh no! Poor you and your DD!

People being sick immediately has me gagging and I have to leave. Luckily, when either of my DDs is ill (thankfully not often), DH takes on the clearing up duties and I cuddle the poorly child.

I hope you both feel better soon. I know the feeling of not wanting to miss work (teacher here too) but if you’re not awake enough, it’s completely understandable.

1AngelicFruitCake · 12/05/2021 06:04

Thank you for your post. I’m starting to feel really tired now so it cheered me up! I should be fine this morning, then will hopefully sleep when I get home.
My daughter said a boy was saying he had tummy ache and felt sick, he was sent to sit down and put next to my daughter ☹️

Make sure you do sleep when you get in. It’ll probably hit you this afternoon.

I’d be surprised if she caught it and had the symptoms that quickly. Possibly a bug that was already making its way around the class.

I didn't really at the start I used to have panic attacks but I was throwing up so much that after 10 weeks I kind of got used to it. I used to just try and calm myself as my biggest fear was chocking but the more panicked I was the more likely chocking became.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied to me yesterday. My daughter wasn’t sick again (hooray!), I managed to survive at work and we all slept well last night. Thank you for keeping me company Smile x

Aw glad she is feeling better and you can start getting back to normal x
bendmeoverbackwards · 13/05/2021 14:05

Glad you're ok OP. I have this horrible phobia and it's bloody awful. I haven't actually been sick myself for 40 years but I know one day it's going to happen.
