Hi all not sure if this is the right place to ask but anyway!
We are going to have some family over in a few weeks when it's allowed and am thinking of having roast lamb done on the BBQ. What else could I see with this apart from flat bread and hummus?
Want it to be a real lovely treaty afternoon as we obviously havnt seen them for ages. Would probably have cheese and crackers later in the evening also x

Look at recipes from Sabrina Ghayour and Yasmin Khan. Both have great lamb recipes and accompaniments.

Greek salad, roasted veg (or veg kebabs with peppers and courgette done on the bbq) halloumi, tatziki, olives, new potatoes roasted with garlic and herbs. I did all this for our first bbq with friends last weekend! 😁

Tabbouleh?
Greek salad?
Tomato and mozzarella salad?

Also, Nigella’s pea and avocado salad is IMMENSE with bbq lamb. It's in How to Eat.

Ooh and halloumi and chilli jam!

Pineapple on the BBQ goes really well too, especially with ice cream

A whole banana, skin off. Put into foil and add choc chips or brown sugar. Put on the BBQ till soft. Its delicious with ice cream or custard!

A savoury, herb or garlic butter put onto corn on the cob, then wrapped in foil

Halloumi/Watermelon salad- BBQ the halloumi then chop into strips or cubes. Chop a watermelon, add chopped green beans and toasted pine nuts. Mix together and its a refreshing, summer salad.

Peaches or nectarines baked in foil with a little sugar.

Everything sounds lovely!

I think I would add any of the following:

aubergines cut lengthways into quarters and marinated in tahini, lemon and olive oil and bbq’d to get a char.

Roasted peppers stuffed with herbs and halloumi.

A potato salad made with sweet potatoes, roasted red onions, yoghurt, mint and chilli.

Orzo with tomato sauce with a touch of cinnamon and roasted veg.

I love green beans with lamb, almost always them with a lamp roast dinner.

With BBQ roast lamb, you could add a French dressing with garlic to the beans as they cool.
I just do it with wine vinegar, oil, and sliced garlic. this recipe is similar, personally prefer my simpler version but couldn't give you exact ingredients.

Crazycatstory · 11/05/2021 22:25

Not sure where I found it online, but mix of plenty of olive oil, some sumac and a couple of crushed garlic cloves and brush onto some criss cross scored (on one side) aubergine roasted in the oven or bbq-d and then dotted with some pomegranate seeds is delicious as a side for lamb.

Also this warm courgette salad cooks well on the bbq and is great with lamb

I’d probably make a Greek salad too.
