Has anyone gone from fat and unfit to healthy and active?

This isn’t particularly about weight loss, so I’ve posted here.

What changed in your head to allow you to change? Was it sheer determination? Did something happen?
Is it possible to change from couch potato to someone who genuinely enjoys heading out for walks?

A year ago I was obese and couldn’t walk for more than ten minutes without being out of breath I wasn’t active at all. Today I have been for a 30 minute run and went for a twenty minute walk at lunchtime, will probably go out again this evening. The big change for me was weight loss, I lost about five stone. Without a doubt I am more comfortable walking than I was then and I couldn’t run really at my previous size (18 clothes, 16 stone). When I think about going for a walk or a run and carrying 70lbs with me I just couldn’t do it, it’s probably why I couldn’t and didn’t want to do it then.

Hope this makes sense!

I just had to get past the mental block of accepting that other people can eat every day and not gain weight and yes it's unfair but I don't process food in the same way they do and I just have to live with it if I want to be a healthy weight.

Yes me. Couch to five K did it for me. Motivation was being a better example for my kids.
