Couldn’t be arsed to compete.

They were early Anglo-Saxon kingdoms - East Saxons, South Saxons, West Saxons, Middle Saxons... the bit to the north was part of the kingdom of Mercia, I think, so it has a different name.

Stompythedinosaur · 11/05/2021 15:28

The saxons didn't hold the northern kingdoms.

If the media and BoJo are to be believed, there is nothing North of London.
Ormally · 11/05/2021 16:48

It was full of monasteries?

newnortherner111 · 11/05/2021 18:11

This must have been an inspiration for coffee shops and fast food outlets, who have forgotten the world small exists.

BlowDryRat · 11/05/2021 18:41

Right. History according to MN: there was a place called Nosex but then it got Sexcia and became Mercia.
