How to personalise my basket?

I was just about to treat myself to a monogrammed/personalised summer basket when I remembered that I already had a French "market" basket that I could use but want to pimp it up!

Bearing in mind that I'm the most uncreative person you've come across, any ideas how I can do this?

Paints and a stencil from Hobbycraft??!!

Do you have a picture of what the basket looks like at the moment?

Ribbon round the handle?

It's very much like this, it's the sides I want to pimp up! Thank you x

Spray F&M on it so that everyone thinks you’re ‘posh’!

I would pop a couple little pom-poms on the handles. I wouldn’t stencil anything on. I think I’d Cock it up.

Hmm I'm not sure I'd be spray painting anything. I've tied a silk scarf round the handle of mine. Pretty, plus it means I always have something I can use as a facemask if I forget to take one out

When my daughter was little I used to make appliqué shapes of animals from felt to put on her t shirts. Very easy to hand sew on.

Not sure if that would work on a basket though.

This kind of thing -

With a darning needle and raffia, overstitch some simple shapes, interlocking triangles for instance. Use chalk for guide lines.

But the easiest thing is to tie strings of beads or shells onto the handles.

Thanks for all the suggestions. As I wanted it personalised I was thinking initials of some sort? Like a patch that could be sewn on perhaps although I can't see so slight problem?!!

You could use a hot glue gun to stick some initials patches on?
