Help with probation period..

Hello,

I have been in my current position for a year, not having passed probation yet as it's a long 12 month probation.

I've been offered a new job to begin next Tuesday; but just noticed in my current contact that it states I need to STILL give 4 weeks notice regardless of wether or not I've passed probation.

HELP! What can I do? I'm so so unhappy here and want to get stuck into my new role.

4 weeks is pretty standard notice. You sign your contract for your new job, then you give notice and ask HR to calculate if you have any holiday owed to you and then you use this to work out your last working day.

I would work the notice period. You have put time in to this job and may need a good reference from there now and in years to come (my employer requires last 5years worth of references).

Use holiday to shorten the notice period if you can. Explain to new employer.

Have you spoken to your current employer? They may be perfectly happy to let you leave early
