Smaller eyes puffy face with age??

Hi, I'm 40 and have noticed my face has been looking puffy and my eyes smaller for the past couple of months. It's horrible! I read someone on Mumsnet describing their eyes as two currants in a bun, and that's what I think!! SadGrin I still have crows feet and wrinkles worsening but face just looks larger and eyes smaller! Has anyone else had this? Is it an aging thing? I had a baby last year and have been losing the baby weight slowly. Not back to where I was yet but going in the right direction. So I don't think it's normal weight gain. Looks like puffiness. Could it be alcohol related? I started drinking again after stopping breast feeding.

How do I make my face go back to normal!? Or is this it now?! Shock

Eyelids tend to drop as we get older, which makes eyes look smaller.
Sometimes increasing long-sightedness causes squinting which does the same.
Is either of those happening to you?

Alcohol definitely puffs people up OP. How much and how often do you drink? Could be water retention in general. 40 isn't old....I'm 48 and only now are my upper lids starting to sag a bit.

I don't give a shit tbh though! Grin

Mine are the same, I've always had quite small eyes but the puffiness since I've hit my 40s makes them look mean and piggy Sad and to make matters worse, I seem to have permanent smears of redness on my upper eyelids which are really visible. If you get any good advice I'm nicking it!

I drink a few wines over the weekend and the occasional one during the week. Definitely not eyesight as I have 20/20 vision.
Oh no, I don't want this to stay! I feel horrible!

I don't drink (except at Christmas) so it's definitely not always caused by alcohol! Just ageing I think.

I've started to use a jade roller on my face, been using it around a month and it's really making a difference to my skin, wrinkles, puffiness

I saw a photo of me the other day - must've been taken 15 years ago. Goor lord - what happened to my huge green eyes? My cheekbones? My youth!!!

I now look like Im wearing a flipping pig mask... So pale, wrinkly and weeny eyed... I look like my mum did before he died (and she has 20+ years on me - and had had cancer, heart and kidney problems, high blood pressure...)

That was a side-effect of hypothyroidism for me. Medication helped. I also have a lovely green tea with turmeric, it's probably all in my mind but supposedly turmeric is an anti inflammatory.

Ooh turmeric yes- I've heard that works!
