I’ve just found out that my GP surgery is not called what I thought it was called! Blush

My GP used to be in a building on “willow street” with 3 other GPs. It was called “willow street surgery” You went in, gave your name at the same window regardless of who you were seeing and sat in the one waiting area where everyone sat.

Then they moved to a new building on “Oak road”. Same 4 GPs, one reception desk but two receptionists so if you were seeing my GP or Dr smith you went to one end and if you were seeing Dr green or Dr brown you went to the other end. One waiting area for everyone. I had seen signs inside saying “Oak surgery”. So for years I have been writing, “Dr Blue, Oak surgery” on all forms for DC for school, scouts etc and for myself for things like exercise classes.

I just tried to call my GP and for some reason it wouldn’t connect my call so I googled oak surgery and called the number which I thought must be new. The receptionist informed me I had called the wrong surgery, I needed to phone the woman sitting next to her at “big town name health centre” apparently it has always been two separate practises with two separate names. This has been my GP for 15 years!! Blush

How the hell have I not realised?? Granted, I don’t attend the GP much at all but this is taking the piss! Grin

Before we moved, DH and I had different GPS but the surgeries merged together into one big health centre. Once, I had to pick up a prescription for DS (who went to my surgery) and DH so I went to one side of the desk and got DS’s and was told I needed to go to the other side of the (same) desk to collect DH’s 🙈😂.

If its any consolation my old GP was Oakbank surgery, I then moved house to Oakcroft Road. For the first year I was putting Oakbank as my address and Oakcroft as my GP.
I've since changed Doctors which has made this slightly less complicated.

It’s a bit ridiculous isn’t it? They merge, but not really.

Ours are named after a local river and castle, I can never remember which one I am so I just write Dr Bob @ the community hospital name. The buildings all the same so I'm sure folk know what I mean.

I always thought my Dr's address was The Surgery, followed by the road name. It turns out it isnt and never has been.

My doctors used to be called The New Doctors, so I'd write Dr Doctor at The New Doctors... And it always used to be rejected, and I'd be told it needed to be the proper surgery name, because there are lots of new doctors Hmm

Once the woman changed the name to a random newly built doctors... I think she was trying to help.

I'm glad that my new doctor is just Town Medical Centre Grin
