I am visiting relatives today and there is a waitrose not far from them I'm fancying popping in for some different bits...
Any recommendations? I fancy some nice snacks and something for tea.

White chocolate gelato

The Delphis bathroom cleaner is very good. It leaves everything really clean and shiny. It comes in a spray bottle and is a foam.

Mediterranean vegetable quiche (if not, get the minted pea and bacon)
Mini sausage rolls
Cappuccino mousse
Honey and stem ginger yogurt
Levantine Table Pistachio and Rose Shortbread
Chocolate orange florentines

Apparently they sell ground celery seeds, without the salt. I do a tasty faux KFC chicken coating which has celery salt as 1 of the ingredients, but I always find it makes it too salty. I've been on the hunt for just the celery component- which Waitrose sell.

They also have a good range of ports and dessert wines.

@MrsTrumpDuTurnip- The faux/copycat KFC recipe is a mix of several recipes through trial an error. I used to measure it all, but now just go by colour- a pinky, salmon colour. When I was on a keto diet, I used ground almonds as a crumb replacement. Now I just use those orange coloured crumbs and mix the following into it:

  • paprika
  • Italian herbs
  • pepper
  • celery salt/ground celery
  • onion powder
-garlic powder

Dip the chicken in the mix, then into egg, then back into the mix for a double crumb. No need to add flour first. I oven back, but you could fry them too.

@Elouera, thank you so much
I have copied it into my recipe book under Elouera chicken 😀

Whatever crazy ingredients Ottolenghi has included in his latest recipe. They sell most of them.

CovidCorvid · 09/05/2021 12:56

Nduja paste in a jar. Add it to pizzas.

@MrsTrumpDuTurnip-I forgot the ground black pepper!

lostlife · 10/05/2021 20:43

If it is from the EU forget it. Massive shortages at Waitrose and Booths of French stuff including wine.

MisContrued · 10/05/2021 21:22

There was a thread a little while back where op was so excited about a shopping trip to Waitrose in lockdown. It almost got indecent, the food suggestions were so moreish.

PickAChew · 10/05/2021 21:28

Kerala chicken curry.
Ethiopian sidamo ground coffee.
Any of the No1 sausages.

namechange34 · 10/05/2021 21:29

Frozen potato rosti and potato croquettes. Parmesan crusted veal burgers Smile

Lumene · 10/05/2021 21:30

Frozen croissants and pain au chocolat which you heat at home. Gamechangers.

namechange34 · 10/05/2021 21:35

Oh and all the Unearthed goodies - olives, deli meats etc.

Roselilly36 · 10/05/2021 21:37

Their fresh treacle tart is awesome. So are their essential teabags & bathroom cleaning spray. The essential range is really good on the whole.

Firkinhavinalaugh · 10/05/2021 21:40

Bacon wrapped honey chipolatas.

katy1213 · 10/05/2021 21:43

Gail's bread. I suppose you could buy it at Gail's but it's often reduced at Waitrose.

RebeccaCloud9 · 10/05/2021 21:47

Pancetta to make a really good carbonara, brioche and waffles, tuna pate, waitrose own tuna steak in olive oil (total game changer), fresh tomatoes, almost all of their ready meals are good, the veg samosa in the lunch aisle is yummy, British asparagus, pata negra cured meat

justjuggling · 10/05/2021 21:55

The coffee & caramel cake - I hate coffee but could eat several slices of this cake in one sitting!
