How long does a card refund in store take?

I bought a tent a few weeks ago and needed to return it.

On Friday night (around 7pm) I took it back to the shop and the money was refunded to my card- I've got a till receipt confirmation, but when I checked my banking Saturday night (around 9pm) the refund wasn't showing.

Does anyone know if it takes a few days to clear because of the weekend?
It's £300 so not a small amount to go astray, so I'm worrying a bit.

It can take up to 4/5 business days. But is usually in your account earlier

In my experience about 3 days. I don't know why as when they take your money it goes out same day.

It usually takes 2 working days. I returned some stuff to M&S on Tuesday and the refund was in my account on Wednesday afternoon. My bank processes card transactions at about 4pm.

It's a very instant process spending it, so I assumed a refund would be just as quick!
Usually if I return something it's a lot less than £300 so I guess I've just not noticed before.
